Senegal: Vegetable Exports, Female Employment, and School Enrollment


That is from a paper by Maertens & Verhofstadt titled "Horticultural exports, female wage employment and primary school enrolment: Theory and evidence from a natural quasi-experiment in Senegal" (2012). The authors conclude:
We found that through the creation of rural employment for women, the horticultural export sector in Senegal indirectly contributed to increasing primary school enrollment. P. 19-20.
