How is higher education in Latin America doing?

For everything that we hear in the media, etc., it seems that the quality of higher education in the US is decreasing. There might even be a bubble in higher education.

In Latin America the main problem is not quality, actually the quality in public and private universities is pretty good (with exceptions -- some private schools in Nicaragua, for example). The media does not complain about quality. The main problem is that only a few can access, but the good news is that higher education contributes to reduce income inequality in the region.

The main challenge of higher education in LA is to do more research.
